Description

The cemetery of our cars can be transformed into sculpture, like a macabre monument reflecting the fragility of the human works. I should like what think about that the cats?

Another brilliant sculptural-image from you. This has the same sculptural, visceral feeling as your "Noah" image. Only here, it's made of cars. Your tones on these cars---your hues---are silver-bronze. They're almost gold, in spots. It feels like someone coated all these cars with a deep bronze-gold patina. It makes them look like 'art' and not like cars. Your effort to make this a 'sculpture' works beautifully. But there's also something 'sinister' about the cars. They're like dark monuments. Macabre monuments. Some of the cars shine like macabe jewels, designed to lure us in, even though the cars have lost their lives. The image is stunningly beautiful, and very disturbing, at the same time. (And a wonderful collection of cars, too: Some very expensive cars, here! Very fancy. And some very "classic" cars, like the VW "Bug, among others. Even a Jeep, or military vehicle. And some big American cars, and some antique cars, etc...) You've made other images where objects sit on a smooth gray floor...like the floor of an art-museum. You definitely created a "museum" feeling here. Like your Noah image, you've cropped this tightly, so the cars dominate the image. The green background works well too. Then---the cats! Throughout your gallery, you use cats as observers. Sometimes they're observers who don't "care": Ie, they just "exist," they don't care about what surrounds them, and they don't judge. But, in other images, the cats seem to be like children, looking at the world in total surprise. They don't know how to understand the human world. Here, the cats (to me) are the latter: They look at this mass of "dead cars" with surprise. The fact is, the cats will go on with their lives, long after these cars are gone. In your gallery, cats are often the most basic 'life-force': No matter what happens around them, they will continue to live. And since cats symbolize instinct and intuition, they tell us that instinct and intuition will outlive everything else...including this massive pile of cars... You've managed to make a macabre pile of cars into a huge piece of beauty. It's beautiful and macabre, at the same time. Technically, this is brilliantly done. Your highlights are wonderful; and your shadows are wonderful. A brilliant image, once more. And the cats---small, and off to one side---are the observers who assure us that there's something deeper and better than all the cars in the world. They (the cats) are gold and red; and they have real life, unlike the cars. Another brilliant work, Giuliano.
