Description
Hi!
I posted this 2 nights ago, but I deleted it by accident, then forgot to re-upload!
So here it is, toned-down a bit. (I wasn't totally happy with the psychedelic tones of the first version...)
For those who don't know, Currier and Ives made famous prints of bucolic 19th Century scenes.
And Grandma Moses---well, she did 'primitive' paintings of postcard scenes, and I wasn't crazy about her.
But I wanted to try my hand at this, so here it is. Just forget the highrises in the background! Kinda hard to avoid them in Chicago...
I wound up needing rest this weekend, so I didn't continue commenting. But I will this week, I promise.
I hope you're all well, and thanks for your constant presence and support.
I wish you all a fine week,
Mark

I like this very much, the snowy whites really appeal to me, as you know! And the highrises? Squint a little and it looks like just more forest, tall trees of the architectural variety. It works for me! Lovely work, and take care of yourself!

I liked the psychedelic version, but this one has it's own charms & does seem closer to that Currier & Ives tradition. The tangle of branches is a very strong & appealing visual element & the red house, white snow & horizontal/vertical geometry provide a nice contrast to it. And I agree with Denise - the highrises are barely noticeable...

Although I am unfamiliar with the paintings of Grandma Moses, this is unequivocal high key work to be proud of in this magnificent quasi-representation of Currier and Ives art, Mark. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Great colors, stark contrast and use of filters in this labor of love. And it really must be zoomed to appreciate the textures of the purple trees.

This does have a Currier & Ives feel, and Grandma Moses did use a lot of red barn like buildings in her art. You even managed to get a cow in your lovely city shot. The contrast of the red and white is quite striking. And I love the tall birdhouse.

Again alot of wise comments to your wonderful art. I love the crisp feeling of the branches, They really stand out this way in this winter image. Love the red bulding against the white snow. And the cow is really fun having in this wonderful image. Superb as always :-)
