As the star system had been only a mobile transport hub, they had few fixed assets. Yet my squad had drawn the short straw, been tasked to dust down on the fourth moon of the fifth planet; to check out a deep-space comm relay; flush out any resistance. We'd been warned to expect suicide troops, as the Elf-Kin did not take defeat lightly. Imagine our surprise when, as we hovered near the landing pad, the lone sentient bio-sig of the station walked out, hands up, claiming he wished to surrender! Err, I mean she. A female - quite a female. I'd never seen a real one, neither living nor dead, as the females never were involved in face-to-face combat. Now the Lieutenant was rightly skeptical - claiming that she must be a "boobie-trap" left behind to wound human forces. In response, the female quickly popped off what little technology she could remove without a med-bay, and in surprisingly good Terran tongue, claimed her boobies were real and natural, so not traps at all! Yet our Lieutenant scowled, mulling over doing this by the book, and by the book we were to shoot first and ask about the meaning of real & natural boobies later back at base over beers. So I stepped up, volunteering to throw myself on this potential grenade. I mean, I was sure she didn't have any weapons up her sleeve. So I volunteered to test the claim of real and natural; to detonate any traps - despite the fact it might mean my death!
