Amazing story about the woman who discovered that bozoo was her grandpa. Amazing. Well this is another wonderful musical portrait from you, Jock, with two faces painted close together, to get the feeling of how closely musicians work together. It's got that "duet" feel to it. I love how you painted the sleeve of the man on the left: Those very painterly thick strokes you do so well, and the light green highlights. It's like a piece of the sea. And that man's expression is all intensity, with his microphone right up to his mouth (as many singers love to do!) And you've contrasted him against Bozoo so beautifully, with Bozoo's stark white shirt, and his deep blue sunglasses. You cut off the musicians on both side---as if you'd cropped a photo. And it's perfect, because it puts us right into the center of the scene, bringing the musicians right into our laps. Another amazingly truthful portrait of musicians immersed in their music. There's something so real about these paintings, and so sacred...Jock, I'm at an hour now, and I wanted to comment on more of your work (including your most recent pieces), but I have to go now. I hope to be back soon to do more. But you have to know: Sitting with your work is one of the great joys I have on RR. You're an exceptional painter. And, as a musician, I've seen few artists anywhere who captured the inner life of musicians the way you do. Incredible work! (Btw, I realize I haven't fav'd a thing! Well, that's only because I've been totally involved in commenting. So I'll fav all of them with this image.)
