Description

A very young Leatherbug - Harmostes reflexulus. When fully grown they will be a darker rich brown and very "leathery" looking. Better detail in zoom. Thanks very much for looking and for your recent comments!

It has such an attractive outfit, very smart! A shame in a way that it has to grow up!

Superb shooting Tex, I agree with Andrea, it grows to a more drab colouration, what a shame.

they consume other insects also do they not? I see them on occasion but usually when my camera is elsewhere

Everyone above seems to know about leatherbugs as if they were as common as the ordinary housefly, and I never even saw or heard of them before - the penalty of living in an insect-free environment. Other than that, a masterful macro of this handsome whitish colored critter, Maria.
