UPDATE on my condition: NEWS: I now also have brain cancer on top of my lung cancer (I had two seizures and am just back from 4 days at the hospital - ICU then private room). It started with me feeling rotten, I told my wife so and told her that I needed to lie down. Next thing I knew I was waking up in the ICU bed, and almost one day of my life is missing for me. Doing pretty well on short term memory loss besides that chunk, though! That was a huge shock as I thought I was doing well all things considered, especially when I was in France walking a lot with my parents for a couple weeks. (photo above is from then) We (my wife and I) are taking it well, all things considered: there are 15 spots in my brain but they are small and hopefully should be curable - unlike my lung cancer - with radiation). The plan is to have me have a brain scan every two to three months to see if any new lesion grow, and to try and zap them as they pop up if they do, with the gamma knife. I am on new medications (for the seizures and the swelling around the lesions), and my lung cancer chemo is on hold for now, as I am getting 20 days of radiation for my brain (not advised to have both at the same time). I'll resume the chemo for the lung cancer after that, likely. The combo of chemo drugs I had when I had lung radiation too did not really work for me, and I just started to be on a new one - the chemo oncologist first choice if I didn't also have radiation at the same time - but the brain cancer and seizures threw a wrench in the works. My pleural effusion - liquid accumulating in my left lung all this time - has been mostly drained, too: they removed 1.5 liters (2 wine bottles worth), and there is still like 0.75 liters (a wine bottle worth) left. It was caused by the cancer, and it may be cancerous or not (they took a sample to test), but did not look infected, so that is good. The results had not come back yet. They are going to analyze the composition of the liquid and have a better idea of what will be efficient to treat me. Still considered stage IV, incurable, though. Good that the brain is far from that stage (so far, anyway)! Thank you all for the good vibes, prayers, and support: Denise and I really appreciate it! I look better on this photo, indeed, but that was before the brain cancer addition, though.

Soyez assuré que nous pensons à vous (je connais - hélas - deux cas similaires dans ma belle-famille). Votre visage a l'air bien, ce qui est bon signe.

one of my brother-in-laws went through the same thing with lung cancer and fluid on his lung which was drained. they finally put some kind of talc so the fluid would not accumulate as bad. how ever my sister lost him this past November at 83 years old. I sincerely wish the best for you and hope for some miracle

Dear J-L, I know you won't be reading this, but maybe a little angel will deliver it to you. I am so saddened by your passing. You were such a sweet, generous person, and I will miss you. Sorry for not being in the loop, but this past year I had some major stuff going on in my life that kept me away from 3D, etc. I hope you are in a kinder, beautiful place now and maybe, if I warrant going there, we will meet again.
