Description

While flying was seen as a mainly male preserve, there were a few women pilots, even in the very early days. Here an adventurous female pilot has managed to get hold of an ex-Royal Flying Corps Sopwith Camel, and poses proudly next to it before taking it for a spin. Thanks for looking, I hope you like it. You may recognise the plane as one that I show people how to model in the Advanced Carrara training videos. This was done as a test of using an HDRI as background with a shadow catcher plane in Octane Render for Carrara. Postwork to fine tune and get a slightly faded look. Phil

Is that flying gear period accurate? She looks like she's going to be cold. :)

Outstanding job! The background scenery is superb with an excellent atmosphere, especially the dark areas in the clouds! And the plane and its pilot are just awesome! Truly beautiful work!

Just to be clear, the background is the HDRI with a shadow catcher plane, so only the plane and figure are models. You can find the free HDRIs here: http://www.nordicfx.net/

I like the scene a lot. But those wings don't look very aerodynamic.

That is probably the best Carrara Grass that I have ever seen. Great work overall too.

As explained above, the grass is part of the HDRI, only the plane and the girl are models! I pulled up a few strands in Photoshop to give the effect of grass in front of the wheels etc.

Nice work! The pilot looks like she'd rather be flying than posing for photographers! One thing I'm really looking forward to is using Vue to create HDRIs. So many ideas, so little time!
