this is the first cactus like this I have seen in person and was growing out of solid rock. just a crevice large enough for a seed to take hold of and grow

Prickly pear.... These fruits are edible and actually quite delicious. I've even seen jars of jelly made from these. Wonderful capture of this tenacious little plant!
