Description

Some of you may be unaware of what happened to Rocky, as email notifications were not working when I posted about it. Just follow the link below to find out. This is Rockys mate (I call her Little Lady). She was always with Rocky, so I'm sure it is their offspring in her nest. This is the first hummingbird nest I have actually seen, even though I've been very closely associated with them for over a decade. I knew about where her nest was, by following her for a couple of weeks. I had been looking right at it all that time, but did not see it until she landed on it. As you can see, their nests are incredibly well camouflaged, being very small and covered by flakes of lichen woven into the exterior. To get close enough for a clearer picture at this angle, I would have to make a platform about 20 feet high. That is most likely not going to happen! Here is my last post about Rocky;
