Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper!
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

You have made it look a bit rusty Andrea, just be careful !! Found some mullien moth caterpillars in the garden today - the neighbour has them now.

It looks really grim with the post work! Glad it's not that serious for you. They do try and make things sound so complicated don't they, re-torquing? Tightening up a loose nut, they should say! A 5 second pull on a torque wrench will do it ( A wrench that indicates exactly how tight a nut is ) to check it is as at the recommended tightness. They never get tighter as a result of engine vibration they work loose. If they are too tight it is because the mechanic didn't use the correct setting last time he did it!

Well, if he tightened the nut, I hope you're good to go for a good while now, and you saved a lot of money. Good luck.

what if the nut objects to being tighten? did they talk to the nurse before hand to see if the nut really needed tightening? Great image with the postwork and glad your car is okay for now

Maybe a pulley replacement would be an answer - but keep in mind that I am a computer geek and my best friend is the only one allowed under the bonnet of my car!

I know I've got a screw loose and I'm a bit of a nut but honest I've not touched your car,

Lucky you to find an honest mechanic and an easy fix. My first thought was rod bearings which means an engine rebuild. I once read that British cars were made by sadists for masochists. I've owned three British cars in my time so I am an expert on noises and their causes.
