Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper!
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

My goodness, it's crowded there with so many beetles! Well found and captured, and a pretty lupine, too!

I just love Lupines, and this is a fantastic photo with so many of them in the background. We gave up too to have them in our garden, each year the snails eat all away.

Superb shot Andrea! Some legumes have evolved to make their own nitrogen in such quantities any naturally in the soil pushes them over I suppose!

You can really see the fea beetles in zoom. Its like a beetle condo. A beautiful clear image of this pretty plant. Its nice to know some plants will not be tamed.

Hmm, I wonder if that's the ticket, poor soil? I keep trying, and have only just this year got mine to bloom at all, and they don't get vigorous like the wild ones at the park. But I have them in pots, maybe they'd like our ground better, as it's basically just dust that lets the water run off the top and not sink in...There's a thought. What a huge assortment of various buggy guests these have!

Marvelous captures!

Lots of beetle activity there and if he's looking for dinner a lot of panic too. I've noticed those wild lupins seem to like rough old rocky soil even growing at the bottom of cliffs at the seaside.
