Description

Candy's Story continued: They watched the event replay on the screen over and over again. "I don't see it," John said. "I didn't see it either," Rob said. "It is plain that Candy knew there was something in her hand but she never saw it to identify that she was holding a knife until it was in his chest." "Let's see it again," John said. "Man, what is there to see?" Rob asked frustrated. He didn't want to see it again. It was like watching a brutal rape through the eyes of the victim; a victim you knew. "When Candy said that this guy had pressed all the wrong buttons; it's exactly what he did. She had several subroutines all running at the same time to deal with a drunken customer on many levels. Add to that the need for self-preservation kicking in. The only thing that was going on in Candy's mind was thoughts of escape. Her attempts to get away only added fuel to this pervert's sick fantasy." Candy held still to let the machine map her brain again. This machine did more than just copy android brains. It could read and display selected memories complete with their sensory inputs and system status for any given moment. It had a huge advantage over older methods of displaying time indexed memory that relied on the android to download the right information. With a little time and work they could use the machine to deconstruct her brain and then reassemble it in a new brain minus any parts the programmers deemed unsuitable or unnecessary. It was something Candy feared if Cybertron reacquired her. They could take out the part of her mind that made her unique and make it a part of the brain of every Angel model the company sold in the future. Candy did not want to be used that way. "Let's see it again," John said. "We have to keep going through it until we have examined every pixel."
