Description

The Scissor-Tailed Flycatcher swoops down and quickly changes direction as the frightened insect jump/flies off in fear for its life. This is when the Scissor Tail best illustrates how beautiful they are in flight, twisting and turning to catch their prey in flight, spreading their beautiful long tail feathers in elegant arcs and flashing their peachy orange to red underparts which are mostly hidden while sitting on perches. (I didn't see the insect until I downloaded the images to my computer.) Sharper in zoom. Thanks very much for your views and comments.

Wow, the Pentagon spends billions in an effort to incorporate that twisting and turning ability in our fighter aircraft, and here nature has provided it for free in this graceful Scissor-Tail Flycatcher, as it sharply maneuvers to catch insects in the air. Another one of your fine avian action shots on display.

Superb capture of the flycatcher going in for the kill on the chaser; don't you just love those lucky breaks? I'm always amazed when I find I've managed to capture something I had no idea was there. Brilliant photography, as always!
