Description
We spent a few hours on our recent trip walking through Carmel. Though certainly touristy & full of high end boutiques & art galleries, the things I like most about Carmel are the out of the way, quirky houses & the beautiful flowers that can be seen everywhere around town. I just liked the look of these garage doors on a house that was just a couple of blocks from the ocean...

I'm on my 12th image---I know it's not a "numbers" race, but it really means something to me to actually comment on twice as many shots of yours as I usually do (in an hour), because you post so much quality that I feel bad I only comment on bunches here and there. (I just don't write comments like this quickly, unfortunately. At least you know I've spent the time, even if I didn't do a lot of comments.) But 12 in under an hour is really fast for me in your gallery! Anyway, this shot is terrific. You softened it somehow, but still maintained the sharp lines and contrasts. The teal doors are terrific, not only for their softness and their light-washed areas, but for their teal. It really does stand out from the yellows and oranges and so on. And it's the big opening in the shot, with all that architecture piled up around it, and the trees piled up as well. You also have a big slope from the upper right going down to the doors, like a sloping hill. And your whited-out sky is perfect backdrop to the intense activity of everywhere else. Boy this is good. I may sound like I praise you all over the place, but the fact is you dig into your shots with total commitment, and we feel there isn't a thing you give us that you haven't grappled with to the core. Fact is, we feel that commitment, it pours out of your shots. You're that good. Even the way the yellows highlight the dark green, in the bushes in the right-front---even that is fine. A painter would do that. I wonder what would've happened if you'd have been a painter in another life...I think your canvases would've jumped off their "pages". Terrific work, Claude. I have to stop now because I'm getting tired---not from your work, but from intense commenting. I'm not 100% yet. (Man, I got allergies that send me jumping up at night, with rashes and itching like some plague from the bible! I'm ok, I mean it's not deadly, but it feels like you're going to crawl out of your skin. Happily, the best cures are natural, and they're working...but this last week, whoosh. My body is shouting and arguing, and I'm trying to listen. But anyway, it was great to comment on all these. I'll be back for more soon. And btw, I hope your life in your new place is sweet and fulfilling to you both. I wish you all the best with that!)
