Description
The Dassault Mirage III fighter jet is one of those fighters destined for the hall of fame. If it weren't still used by Argentina and Pakistan, it would surely qualify for the title "Tits Machine".
This elegantly beautiful French made aircraft, designed by the Dassault Aviation company, first flew in 1956 (entering service in 1961), and would eventually be produced to the tune of 1,422 units of various variants, including those made under license.
Its slim design and delta wing configuration allowed the small fighter to achieve the mach-2 speed requirement at the time, and its abilities as a superb dogfighter were exhibited and underscored by the successful Israeli use of the aircraft in the 1967 Six Day War. The Mirage III was a groundbreaking system for its time, and an unqualified star in the combat aviation world.
With an airframe that supported ground attack operations, the Mirage III was useful in that role in addition to interceptor and recon operations. The MIrage III enjoyed service in twenty countries and as of 2013 is still found in operation here and there.
Looks like another candidate for an aerial sports car to me. You put it on and go!

One of the few ' Fast Movers ' that I fell in love with at first sight, one of my first Airfix builds in Israeli markings...Great render, really shows off the sleek lines....the whole image is beautifully set up and executed 10/10

Aw, sheesh! I thought I was looking at a great photo and you give it all away in the last sentence! All I can say is excellent work! Keep it up. And, I really enjoyed the history. When in Paris 1968-69 I saw them fly over on the parade celebrating 50 years after WWI ended, and the next year, the Bastille Day parade. Keep up the good work! :-)

Oh! Forgot - is that Neiwil in the cockpit? :)

You're welcome. Thank you for history and for your kind mention. Also one of my first models in plastic, a 1:48 scale model ESCI with the colors of Argentina. Your render as usual is impeccable.

Nicely done render of a great aircraft. Like Newil, I have fond memories of the Airfix IAF version.

Brilliant model, stunning render and Australian markings.. Impressed. I have seen one many years ago at a Waddington airshow, photo somewhere.. Yes, Argentina used (still use) them.. Badly restricted by range and outclassed by the Harriers it turned out.. They lost several.. I think they had both French and Israeli versions.. Rob

Awesome render. I suspect though that this RAAF mirage is pining for some gum trees in the background... Or maybe even palm trees if it was stationed in Malaysia.
