Description

A view of the Eagle Nebula (M16/NGC6611) as it may look from the surface of an extraterrestrial planet - in this case, a satellite orbiting a gas giant. Landscape and planets done in Bryce, with a composited backdrop. I did a fair bit of editing on the backdrop image in Photoshop since the original photo had a lot of over-exposed stars in it, which didn't look right here. I basically clone-stamped out the overexposed stars, then re-painted the starfield "by hand", to make the stars look more "pin-pointier". Did a bit of other general postwork fiddling as well.
