Born in Tel Aviv, Israel on November 21, 1961, moved to New York with my family at age 5 1/2 and lived there for 24 years. I always drew, sketched and sculpted but began my first real art work at age 16 in pencil and charcoal, added oils at age 17 1/2 and began work with the digital medium at age 41. Looks almost like my father's old FACIT typewriter from the late 1920's. It was still going strong in the 1960's but was too large and bulky for mother. She left it with father when they separated. I don't know what became of it, if he even had it 'til his death. Thanks for posting this, as it brought back a few nice memories. By the way, in the mid-60's it started to become difficult to obtain those inked type ribbons (ours had black and red ribbon). What's your experience with ribbons? Can you still type with the machine? Keep up the good work! :-) PS - how heavy is it?
OritD
You know, it had its red and black ribbon, which was all dried out, up until some years ago. This couple took my ribbon and said they'd find me a new ribbon at a place they knew of in the USA and I never saw them or the ribbon again. My father got it from a friend who repaired typewriters, circa 1967-1968. It SHOULD work with a bit of cleaning.
