Description
Caleya watched as NarieFah ran into the field and she whispered, "I'll be your shield and keep you safe." Then she took a deep breath and turned to faced the fireworms. They were much closer and still heading directly for the tower. But just before they were in range they unexpectedly turned away.
Surprised by this Caleya said to herself, "What game are these fireworms playing?"
Soon it was clear that the dragons had started a turn that would carry them in a great circle around the tower. She had a terrible feeling, "Maybe those cowards are avoiding me and want to attack NarieFah." Calyea wondered if she should call NarieFah back in, but decided to wait. The fireworms continued their circular flight and seemed only interested in harassing the fleeing Orcs.
It wasn't until they had completed one full circle that something happened. One of the dragons veered off and headed straight for the tower. Seeing this Caleya drew an arrow and got ready.
The lone dragon heading for Caleya was flying just above the tree tops and it had powerful wings that propelled it quickly towards the tower. This young dragon had never faced the Dragon Slayer before and was very eager for a contest.
Caleya was protecting NarieFah and also for the first time in five hundred years a Dragon Archer was protecting one of 'The Lost'. This intensified her feeling of a Vendetta against the Red Dragons.
"You will NOT get past me," she said out loud.
Then she focused and aimed her bow, and as before she felt the power of the vendetta growing inside of her.
When Caleya started her vendetta a magic was awaken within her and it was one that had never before been seen in the kingdom. This magic was at work now and it created small flames that danced up and down the bow strings and travelled along the arrow shaft. Caleya could feel this powerful energy as it flowed through her arm and into the arrow. On past encounters with the fireworms this energy had heated the arrowhead until it was glowing red hot, but today the arrowhead was burning with a white hot intensity.
Caleya waited until she could see the fire rising in the dragon's throat and at this last possible moment she released the arrow.
The dragon had never seen an archer that could wield so much power and it appeared as if the Dragon Slayer could breathe fire that was hotter than its own. The sight of all this unnerved it enough that it broke off the attack and made a violent turn to avoid the arrow. It continued in this turn and flew off to rejoin the other two dragons.
Caleya let out a sigh of relief and turned to see that NarieFah was safe and was running back to the tower.

In this scene we relive the same timeline as the previous chapter Hiding Place, but this time it is from Caleya's perspective. The egg's hiding place will remain a secret for now but I really liked your guesses and I'm glad I didn't bet any money for the right answer ;-) For the dragon I reworked the materials and made the wings less glossy and more translucent. A fierce dragon coming in at Caleya and I was hoping for a direct hit on the red fireworm. Most importantly, Caleya and NarieFah are safe for now. A wonderful chapter in your story and an excellent creation!
