Description
Because this project was intended as a "BUST" Sculpt...
I created a pedestal type model to place it on :)
The model is four parts, for a total of 3.6 million polys.
After 3 models sculpted entirely in ZBrush, I think I'll try creating a base mesh in my normal modeling program, with all the landmarks already modeled in to the mesh design...
Then import into Zbrush for some extra detail.
As far as learning the Zbrush interface goes, it's still like a maze, with a problem to solve at every turn, lol :)
It's been entertaining though.
Well, to the few that view and comment regularly, Thanks
so much for your interest :)

well, if ZB is a maze, i'd definitely say you're getting close to the cheese... i like the way the shapes of the shoulders echo the shape of the helm, and the ribbing of the undersuit is a yummi detail too... what i really find interesting is the placing of such a tech type of gear put upon that wonderfully organic base - that bit made me chuckle [it did -- really] :))

The interface is pretty insane, that's what I've been struggling with... but yes i find some Cheese every now and then :) the base design was just something quick, and it was intended to be a contrast to the high tech suit. But I could probably have done something geometric that would have accomplished the same result. thanks for your comment and interest in my project :)

Been trying to learn that interface for years. You are doing far better than I. Fine work.
blbarrett
Thanks for that.... And I'm glad to hear I'm not alone :) YouTube videos have helped a lot, much easier to grasp things when you can see them done.

Badass - I'd wear it just because of how instantly badass it would be.

Nice design. Zbrush's interface is tricky but fully customizeable - and it actually makes sense once you get into it. The brushes have so much power and and can be tweaked in so many ways. But I know I was very frustrated for a while... Especially when you can't tell if there is a bug or some setting in the interface you are missing.

I haven't seen anything from you lately, so I do hope you are still creating. I worked with Zbrush a long time ago when I was trying 3d modeling and there wasn't as much information out there that there is today. I still loved the program and found it amazing even though, as you said, a problem to solve at every turn. =P I really do love the bust, nice job and design. Hope to see more.

Yeah, I've been pretty active in finding a new job. The good news is I was successful in finding a good one :) It may be a while before I get back to posting on a regular basis, with a new job, comes learning the ropes. So I'll be really focused on that for a while. ZBrush is an amazing program, no doubt! The comment you mentioned, was made directly after spending many hours fighting with it, lol. So I was just venting a little :) Thanks, I'm glad that you liked the sculpt and I too am pretty happy with how it turned out. I've picked up a few more tricks since I finished this, but just have been side tracked with other things. I hope to get back to a new sculpt soon though.

Outstanding work my friend !

This looks excellent! I know what you mean about the UI in Zbrush. I´ve had it for years and just scratched the surface cuz it just made me frustrated. But I made up my mind to not let the damn UI win so this sumemr I really started to learn it and the past month I´ve made more progress than in years. Keep upp the good work!

Thanks :) Congrats on your persistence, it seems to be the best method :)
I may be using this app to sculpt at work in the future, so that should offer more practice and instruction to get me to a point where I'm comfortable.

Impressive. I want to learn how to make models. Maybe when I finish my IT classes i will make an attempt to purchase software like Maya and Zbrush. At 795 dollars for the single license and similar prices for other packages, I have a huge barrier.
