Description

This is a caterpillar which we found on our penstemons so I sent a couple of pics off for an ID. This is the reply :- Hi Jeff Fairly sure this is the caterpillar of the migratory Bordered Straw see link to adult moth. http://www.wildlifeinsight.com/wp-content/gallery/gb_moths2/2403borderedstraw.jpg Although sometimes imported on cut flowers I think these may be the offspring of the little influx arriving about a couple of months ago. I also came across the green form of caterpillar the other day. I'll be doing an update on this species soon so would it be alright to use your image and refer to your sighting with accreditation. Thank you for your enquiry Steve

I read in the newspaper that several new species were appearing here and some rare and previously extinct ones returning.. So, it could well be.. Super shot and some interesting info.. Well caught. Rob
