Description
Yesterday, I stated that I wasn't satisfied with any of the photos of the entire tidepool that we found the colony of sea urchins in at Point Lobos, but I did find this one that I thought wasn't too bad. You can see some of the purple sea urchins pretty clearly at the front & purple dots spread all over the pool...
Please zoom.

A most beautiful photo!

This does give a great idea of the place. It's hard to take a picture of ALL of something and do it justice. Even though the individual sea anemones aren't the main focus of the picture, it's still outstanding. There's enough detail in the foreground that I understand what I'm looking at, and the overall composition is great. And of course I like your postwork! Well done!

A phenomenal capture, not only seeing where the sea urchins live, but also how easy it is for the ocean to replenish the food supply. Also an excellent background!

Yes, with Tara, it's hard to capture all of some places, and still give a sense of the details ("do it justice," as she says). When a place has so much detail and so much life in each small spot, fine overviews aren't always possible. But your pieces, prior to this, were eye popping, and this is a bejeweled shimmering landscape. The blues are so deep, the greens and whites in the water are luminous, the deep ambers and reds of the sand/rocks are vivid with the texture of fine baked goods (like the insides of biscotti). And the sweep---with the rocks flowing from edge to center (almost a wide-angle feeling here) and then into that shimmery lit sea back there---it's a beautiful big-scale shot of a place that may not be nearly as big, literally, as it feels. Lush and scintillating, Claude...Man these nature shots are knockouts.
