Description

I had to find a subject for a Flickr challenge *Heavenly' and so used this. This very cheapo perfume from Dana is far from heavenly, actually! It's a fleeting, woody, powdery scent which is not worth more than the £2.99 I paid for this mini! It is also very difficult to make an interesting image! See another attempt Here

Well Andrea you did a wonderful job, presenting this in the two different colors. I prefer the blue, however this one seems one to represent the woody aromas a bit better. The etched angels look really cute on the cap !

I love your lighting, and of course the postwork is masterful. You've done wonders with the composition, making it unique and as interesting as possible. A challenge I would not have liked to pursue, given what there is to work with!! That being said, I'm with you on the reasons for it being difficult to make an interesting image. Maybe stand the metal box up on end and put the bottle off center toward the right. You know ... use the box to frame the bottle. Maybe a flower or a scarf or some streamers or something to liven it up. It's kind of a standard setup, but the bottle and the box don't stand on their own as photographic subjects. I like the setup you've got here as a composition, but the box is so deadly dull that it sort of sucks the life out of even YOUR creative efforts! I've no idea why they chose such an industrial-looking box for a perfume that's supposed to be angelic. As a marketing ploy, all I hear when I see that box is a big Thud.

Well, now, perhaps it is a subconscious reaction to the quality (or lack) of the perfume but you've turned this into a tombstone. A very attractive tombstone but a tombstone never the less. The lighting and post work are superb for both images.

Now I used to love that scent when I was in junior high school, but haven't smelled it in a good 50 years, so it's very likely my tastes will have changed since then. At least I would hope so! The packaging is totally different from what I recall, and I agree with everyone else on it!

I also thought that it was a tombstone at first and then I was offended that someone used my name, on an inferior product, without getting my permission! :o)
