Description

Happy Birthday, fellow insect lover! Just to tell you all that the Digger wasps I posted yesterday pose no threat unless you happen to be a weevil . There is no risk in making photos of most insects including wasps unless you start waving arms around and sweating..some species may find that inciting! Others will just scarper and the moment is lost. When I eat outside in wasp weather I normally put a scrap of meat at the other end of the table for them, and we all dine in a fairly companionable way. Another Here

What a clever idea to keep the wasps away from your end of the table while dining outdoors ! Definitely am not a insect lover ! I have always been afraid of bees and in particular wasps-- just knowing their stingers are sharp and leave a nasty bite ! Should have known waving them off is a sure sign of attracting attention ! What a beautiful picture and dedication to Chip.. Thanks for sharing Andrea.

I learned a long time ago to stand still and watch with amusement as everyone around me runs around in a panic. Its sort of like the logic found in an old joke; "You can't outrun that bear!" "I don't have to outrun the bear. I just have to outrun you." Chip definitely has a warm spot for anything that creeps, crawls or flies. This is a wonderful birthday gift for him.

Critters tend to love me more than I love them. Maybe I smell good ... I don't know. I've tried putting meat elsewhere on the table, but they still congregate around my plate and want to hang out near me. I don't mind them at all at even a short distance, but somehow when I show up they have no sense of personal space! LOL! This is a superb photograph. Loads of detail, terrific pose, good stuff. Chip will love it! :)

After having been stung by a swarm of wasps I can't say they are a favorite of mine, I was using a Strimmer when the sky went dark and the stinging started I had to drop and run they followed for a considerable distance.
