Description

This isn't about cars. It is about color, light, metal artistry and even history. Hope you appreciate it all as much as I do. Please zoom for full effect.

A fully restored 1954 Oldsmobile Ninety Eight recently sold at auction for $12,700 in Lakeland, Florida. I doubt it was as nice as this one... beautiful paint job !

Beautiful shot...I think it may be a 1952 Buick Super Estate.

Is sweet eye candy...I really love the "big mouth" early fifties Buicks.

Marvelous ambiance of clarity, depth, light perforations (which give it a sense of movement), reflectivity, and gleam, in this shot of what looks like a 1950's Buick or Oldsmobile, Bill. In any case, glad it's not about cars. I never saw anything like this at the auto show in Santa Anita Park.

I really love who the lights are reflected on the various curves of this sweet ride. Great capture

Great shot! I like the angle, and all that beautiful paint. The curves and the way the light plays with shape and color is wonderful. Nicely done! :*

An exquisite capture - love the color, the dappled lighting and the hood ornament. Sometimes a car doesn't really have to be all about the car!

Beautiful detail of color and form, light and reflection. Gorgeous shot. Reminds me of the 1950 Buick my Dad had when I was a kid

Very nice capture Bill. I like the reflections very much and green is a very nice color for this car.

Yes, full view is essential! I always zoom, but sometimes it's just a whole different piece, zoomed. Zounds! Zowie! Pow! Wap! (I'm sounding like a 50's comic book!) What a knockout of a shot. I already told you how much I loved this (so I want my money back) (ha ha), but I'm telling you again. Your cropping off the top of the car puts us right into the action, with that sweeping chrome coming at us, broken up by all those lights---you know, the fire escape shot, this shot, and the El shot all have broken-up lights and shadows, which define the shots. You just be exploring that right now. Well, they just swim here. Beautiful work on the hues and the sheen too. The front grill---also cut off and therefore more dramatic---is a big gleaming mouth. And yes, we can see the wood door (I know they called them "woodies," but we knew that word as having an entirely different meaning, lol), and you give us snippets of the surrounding area to "root" this beauty. But hey, the front's the thing, and it's a swooping beauty. Wonderful car work, Bill. With your superb eye and your Mark III, you've made an ocean-wave out of a car. Truly marvelous (which means, literally, filled with marvel). It's the right word!

Not quite Kelly Green. Of course this is about cars, a green one in this case. You have captured this one in all its majesty. And that little bit off brown and tan tells me its a woodie. What's that old boast, eats Volkswagens for breakfast? They knew how to build them back then.

Love it! It reminds me of the one my father had when he was young, though his wasn't a woody wagon. I never got to see it myself; it was long before I came to exist, but I've seen black and white photos of it, and had been told many times it was dark green. Seeing the green brings back the memories of the tales I heard about the car and my father; I miss them both.
