Description
Captured 8/3/15 @ 8:09 am, somewhere on Le Boulevard.
There are eyes everywhere, so it's paranoia time when I shoot padlocks. Therefore, I work rapidly, even if it's merely on a gate protecting a dusty empty lot. In fact, anyone carrying a camera in the city is considered guilty until proven innocent.

Ah, the combination lock, ensuring that if your memory is good you never need to carry a key! I have nightmares about remembering combinations, though, one of my repertoire of repeating nightmares. Fantastic capture of this lock holding the rusty chain around the galvanized fencing, Harry. I carry my camera around here a lot and don't very often get suspicious stares, but sometimes it does happen. I always assure them that I'm an amateur photographer and give them a card with my posting site addresses on it. If I feel good about what I've captured I offer to email them a copy.

OHH! Ah yes, "What is that guy doing with the padlock over there? Is he trying to open it or what?". And people dont always like to be photographed. I am one of them. I am so freaking un-photogenic, so I hate seeing myself on a photo, so I run, if I see a camera, but my own :D Such a nice padlock and a beautifully rusty chain :-) Very nice compo and shot, Harry :-)

I never realized that padlock shooting could be suspicious---but I bet it is. Like you're casing the joint, lol...But people just don't understand that, to a photographer with the right eye, this is a feast. Also, I see you got a total of 2 comments on this: That's a travesty! But it's padlocks, not flowers or cats or lakes...so it's to be expected, unfortunately. At least I'm in the company of 2 of your very best commenters---a very fine company to be in, to be sure.
A muscular padlock capture, with strong padlock, fence post, and wall. And that wonderful orange chain link (orange with the metal showing through---a sweet bit of decay for added music). I love the contrast of the gray silver fence, and the peeled pink wall. And the padlock right in the middle of the two. You use fine artistry even in composing a lowly padlock---that's dedication sir. And the chiseled sides to the "lock" portion of the padlock, and of course the combination wheels on the bottom. A very rich shot, for a very simple shot. And the formal elements make for another active, contrasting yet minimalist padlock capture. Very finely done, Harry. (And the bit of orange-brown beneath the padlock works well with the chain and wall hues.)
Harry, I'm at over 2 hours now, and I have to go. But it's been a while, and I'm so glad I finally returned. These are my only comments since the RR fiasco, and it actually wasn't too bad to write them in white-on-black. I'll send you the links, however, because I don't know if they'll show up in the Notifications or "Activity Feed". (TWO places to get our notifcations? TWO????) As always, it's a pleasure to comment in your gallery. I hope RR gets easier over time...
