Description

A childhood memory, when all cars were different and many of them actually looked attractive ! I notice this one, doesn't have the wire wheels. "Alvis introduced a new model range in 1953, the TC21. Although it directly replaced the similar TA21 a high performance version of the new car was also added, the TC21/100 Grey Lady. The Grey Lady was instantly recognised by its sporty wire wheels and discreet bonnet "scoops" which protruded just aft of the radiator grille. The "/100" part of the name made reference to the models 100bhp power output which came courtesy of a pair of twin carburettors and a higher compression ratio. The 100bhp also made sure that the Grey Lady could easily each the (then) magical top speed of 100mph. Production of the Grey Lady lasted until 1955." ( info from Motorbase .com )

A bit large for me but beautifully maintained. You are right about cars all looking alike now days.

Looks more like the 1930s than the 1950s, which is okay with me! :) I love that styling.

Wow, I do miss some postings but I couldn't let this one go by! I'd be "in tall cotton" in the USA if I had one of these. I'd be the hit of any car show of which there are many. I am not sure why but this car makes me think of your post, "Being British At The Bus Stop." It sort of fits the lady sitting rather stiffly waiting for the bus wishing she had a driver and an upscale car:)
