Really good question. The filaments give impression of safran flowers. But it's too much longer; and not the kind of life (or color) for safran flower. The difference between yellow and red of flowers is superb; perhaps to say to bees "come on!" lolll Have a good day!

Well, I had no idea what it was until I saw Dana's comment - Like Aelin, I thought it must be Saffron or related to saffron. It's used as a spice - and a pretty pricey one at that. But in any case- it's a lovely shot of this Bird of Paradise, Richard!
