I have always found these wash board sounds interesting and unique, you have done a great job on conveying the musical action Jock !
BTW, they also come in handy as a bullet proof vest, just in case of any crazy groupies ! LOL
~Cheers~

The rub board is almost painted as a set of neon vibrations---I love how it seems to be made of energy more than of metal, etc. And the musician holds it like a shield, almost like a Native American vest. The lines and shadows on the shirt and pants are alive, as ever; and you use purples and blues, here, very expressively. You've painted his head nearly eclipsed by that huge hat, and his expression is all "musician"---total absorption into his art, not caring about anything else. His lips say it all. And the sweep of his hat-brim is wonderfully broad and musical.
Your background is nearly black in the upper half...but in the lower half, you have your wonderful rushing strokes, with blues and reds interrupted by other hues which bring the background alive. The light is intense---as it often is in performance---and you set your musician off from his background with real power. Also---speaking as one who's performed, and worked with mikes---you did a great job capturing the odd mix of intrusion and "belonging" that mikes get. The mike is an odd companion, but it totally belongs. And you got the silver line of the long stand, and the black color of the microphone itself, compromised by light and probably wear. Another terrific painting, Jock. You are simply one of our best. There's no other way to say it.
