Welcome to Zion National Park. Zion is Utah's first national park. Zion Canyon is surrounded by massive canyon walls that ascend toward a brilliant blue sky. To experience Zion, you need to walk among the towering cliffs, or challenge your courage on one of the hiking trails. These unique sandstone cliffs range in color from cream, to pink, to red. They could be described as sand castles crowning desert canyons. Although the Virgin River looks like it carved out this canyon, actually glaciers and flash flooding did all the work.
