Description
Steptoe Butte sits in the middle of a state park which closes at sunset. As the sun set six of us waited for a park ranger to show up and throw us out but since no one ever came we decided to stay. I think the results were worth it.
A curious thing happened as it got dark. Red lights began blinking on and off at various spots. They weren’t traffic lights and it seemed there were too many to be warning lights on towers so maybe ET phoned home?

I shall be eaten up with curiosity about those red lights. I wonder if there is any way of discovering the cause. The eyes have it for me!

I have a vague recollection of having seen lights like this. Maybe in South Dakota? We never did figure out what they were for.

As i just commented on Tara's upload. I work at a power station and we have a red light on top of one of our boiler hous chimneys. I am guessing it is for aircraft to see at night time, but i am really guessing now. Stunning capture. God bless.
