Description
This is the so called Gatekeeper butterfly, apparently often seen around gateways in hedgerows. Here you see it in our garden on a Mallow flower.

Nice shot Jeff they don't just hang around gates but seem to like conservatories I've rescued dozens over the summer but they seem to have gone away now.
