Description

I'd forgotten that I'd made arrangements with a mate of mine, to go out for a drive with the cameras. Tony phoned at 09:15am to say he'd pick me up in half an hour......I pointed out " It's lashing down " ! and got the standard reply " And "?. I must admit it was most enjoyable..Birkenhead Park, Parkgate, Thurstaston, Caldy. The advantage of the inclement weather is there's nobody else daft enough to be out in it. Don't know how many times I've been to Birkenhead Park but I've never taken a picture of the Swiss Bridge, there are usually at least a dozen people loitering on it.....but not today. I had to smile, there's a huge banner advertising the Annual ' Steam & Transport Fair ', a quite spectacular ( so I'm told ) gathering of vintage Traction Engines, Busses and Military Vehicles....I always promise myself I'll go but something always seems to crop up......it's on 19th / 20th September.....I'll be in Stamford with Rob, we're going to Duxford...so I'll make myself another promise and try and get Rob up here for it next year.

Photography meet-up in the rain. I'd do it too. Glad to hear you and Rob will be getting together again soon. Wish I was with you for that trip to Duxford.

Nice photo! Looks more oriental than Swiss (to me, at any rate). Notice something about the light? It's quite even while at the same time giving a great sense of depth. I have on occasion photographed in rain and noticed this. And no people in the way. If you get a good rain coat and camera cover you could start a new trend in photography here at Rendo - who takes the best photos on a rainy day. Note the water running off the bridge, visible under it. Another interesting thing is the color and surface of the water.
Keep up the good work! This was really a nice surprise (hope you didn't get very wet).
:-)
