Description

It was suggested to me that I should do album cover work. I haven't posted this before, since it seemed a little to egotistical of me to center myself as the main character (aka "Rev. Genocide" in that project). To be fair, though, I was the last man standing with our sophomore release. We went in with no bassist, so I had to do that too. Then we lost our keyboardist a few songs in, hence not much keys in the 2nd album. Then it was just down to the new drummer, me, and the singer. Then the new drummer moved, thankfully AFTER he finished his drum tracks. Finally, the singer and I had a spat and he quit mid song, with a few more to go. So, by the end, I had to finish everything but the drums to complete the album; hence the album name "A Pyrrhic Victory". A sad but true story, just before the singer quit, we were talking with Nick Hexum from 311, who had our band as his 2nd favorite friend on Myspace (yeah, it was some years ago); his 1st favorite friend was 311, of course. If only we had a functional band, who knows??? Following is a youtube link that marks that point at which I was all on my own. The singer had a pre-chorus and chorus recorded; I had to do the verses, bridge, and outro if the song was to be completed. Enjoy! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CtcHTGHuJwU

Took a guy on the label about 2 1/2 - 3 years ago he is a diagnosed schizophrenic so I took just him and didn't worry too much about the band side of the equation, call it a premonition. He called his band Headsick. Needless to say when he finally finishes his album I have a draft of the album cover ready to go. Replacing all of the cities and towns on a road map of the US with all the names from the lineups past (crossed out) and present band members on the day it is finished . Thing is he is damn good and different no matter who he has behind him. The outline of your band's history just cracked me up that's for sure :-) I will check out your link. Well done

Sounds like a good friend of mine; I think his schizophrenia actually makes him a better artist in many ways. When the singer from this project and I got into a spat, it was primarily over him missing studio time to go jam with that particular friend's band- which was functional and playing out. I didn't blame the singer for wanting to jam with the other friend, but I wanted the damn album finished after all the work that was already put into it. The other band was damn good and I ended up recording their demo EP for them, so there never was any real hard feelings. However, I did sincerely point out to the singer that he very like struggles with antisocial personality disorder (I am a psychiatric clinician by paid profession) and he's the one who drove all the original band members away...he hasn't spoken with me much since, lol.

Cool cover and I can relate. In fact I imagine many a musician can relate to this story on some level or another. In my case my brother and I are always the duo, but we can never seem to find a drummer or live bass player. So now I stick to the studio recording others, jam and do lots of art and writing. We all need that creative outlet.
