Description

Demeter is the Greek goddess of fertility, seed and the seasons. This shows her reaction to the loss of her daugther Persephone, who was kidnapped by Hades who wanted her to be his wife. Demeter let the land dry out and forbid the plants to grow and the animals to breed until the other gods and goddesses of Olympus forced Hades to let Persephone go again. From there on Persephone spent a part of the year with her mother on earth and the other part in the underworld with Hades and Demeter let the land prosper again. This work will be part of a calender soon, which will show a lot more scenes from Greek mythology.
