Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper!
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

Fine work

Great shot and a wise choice. When snakes are active, boots are my outdoor walking shoes.

I like this better than the mono Andrea. A nice textural shot.

I am the same Andrea, my walking boots are comfy.

I'm not big on shoes either, as you might imagine! Having a good pair of walking shoes is imperative, however. These look like good ones! A great example of making art out of nothing, as well. Great shot!
helanker
They look a bit like the shoes I have for walking :-)
Katraz
They look cleaner than mine.

Someone once said that a good photographer can make a pair of shoes look interesting. That person was probably referring to this image. Great light, color and texture.

Nicely photographed, grit and grunge and all!

Reminds me of that song "These Boots are made for Walking"... Aloha

Wonderful capture! I have quite the variety of boots for hiking and walking and especially when I go hunting.

I'm back for only 2 comments per gallery, tonight, as it's been far too long since I've commented here...but it's never easy, in your gallery, because picking 2 is always hard. (I'll be back for more when I return with more time on my hands.) But I couldn't let these shoes go.
They're actually quite good looking boots, Andrea! And they look padded---some country boots can be hard as lumber, and take quite some getting used to. Your postwork---visible in the fullest view (which takes THREE clicks now, due to RR's many changes)---brings out the language of the suede, or riled leather. (They call it "nubuck" in the States, where it's not real suede, just ruffled leather from the "leather" side of the leather, rather than the underside.) And you brought out the laces as shining snakes! Ditto the lights on the tongue-fabric. A really alive pair of shoes, with bits of yellow and deep brown sneaking a peek. The crop and the closeup and all your signature postwork make these shoes come alive. Ferragamo and Prada, eat your hearts out! These are shoes! Love what you did with these.
