Description

Not art but maybe helpful. The background is by lwperkins. I wrote this up to help a friend and thought it might be helpful for others struggling with the Vendor Credits. 1. Click in the vendor box and type two or three letters of the name EXACTLY as they list themselves. The search is stupid and if it doesn't match exactly it won't find them. A small list should appear with your desired vendor. Click on that name. Now a product box should appear below. 2. Click in the product box an wait a few seconds. If you are lucky, a full list of their products will appear and you can scroll down and choose one. First one done. NOW for the hard part. 3. Click in the vendor box again and type 2-3 letters of the next vendor name, repeating that step. The first will disappear but don't worry. Once you have the second vendor selected, go back to the product box which will still have your first product in a littler box with an "X" to allow you to delete it if you don't want it. Click to the right of this little box inside the product box and if the crediting gods are with you, the list of products should appear for that vendor. (There are still a few bugs where the list hasn't been loaded properly for a particular vendor and you get "Loading Failed" message. I've notified the vendors when it happens and they are working on fixing it.) 4. For the rest of the vendors, repeat the previous steps. The name of the current vendor will get overwritten but the product should still show in that box until your get to seven. It seems to trip at that point. Also only one vendor will be given credit for a product. If you try to put the second vendor on it will only confuse the issue, so save yourself a (bigger?) headache and just choose one to get the product on the page. I hope this will help. Let me know if I've confused you and I will see if I can get pictures or something. Good luck! Teri

I don't use the vendor credit system anymore. I've had several attempts at posting where the whole page was wiped out and I had to start again. So, I now write all the vendor information in the text window below my descriptions. Problem solved! Keep up the good work! :-)

A very thoughtful post, Terri - hopefully it will help a lot. I know it took me a while to get the (gah) new system figured out.

It occurs to me that the very fact that we (users) have to figure things like this out, then post instructions for other users, just confirms what a poorly thought-out and clumsy system this is.. Perhaps we should all be admins.....

Thanks for helping out, Terri!
