Description

This was rendered using Pret-a-3D's Reality 4.0 for Poser and Daz Studio. I created this as a test to see what Reality and LuxRender are capable of. It took quite a lot of tinkering to figure out how to light a scene properly for Reality and LuxRender. For beginners like me, I offer these tips. 1. "Light for the camera, not for your eye." 2. Three Point Lighting. 3. Mesh lights, mesh lights, mesh lights 4. http://forum.runtimedna.com/showthread.php?77788-Reality-3-Tips (Reality 3 but still apply to all versions) 5. In the Reality menu turn your individual lights into separate groups, so that you can easily adjust light intensity in real time for LuxRender as it is Rendering 6. http://reality-plug-in.deviantart.com/art/Poor-Man-s-RLS-Reality-Light-System-Tutorial-498551421 Even though the tutorial is specifically for DazStudio I managed to do the exact same thing in Poser 7. OpenCL is not OpenGL. Check online to see if your video card is compatible with OpenCL (mine is not) 8. When all else fails look in the PDF manual you can access in the help menu Even with these hints, it will still take you a while to get used to everything and render times will be a lot longer compared to Firefly or 3Delight. However, don't be intimidated, you will be surprised at how fast you start to learn this stuff and there is tons of free info and help in forums and tutorials. I haven't downloaded Reality 4.1 but can't wait to try it out. Recommend viewing in full size. Thank you:)

Interesting. To me this looks like decent conventional lighting. Good to see an example and thanks for posting it.

What I see is a problem with the imagery used for the skin shader with the too dark legs due to uneven lighting when imagery was made. So one lesson is that Reality will bring out any problems with your texture material.
