Hi, My name is Bill and I am updating my homepage to reflect a wonderful event in my life...marriage, September 18, 2010, to my best friend Tara...known to many of you as auntietk here on Renderosity.
We "met" shortly after I joined Renderosity in August 2008. We share a love for photography and indeed all types of art.
We live north of Seattle and enjoy getting to share photographic excursions and information with other Renderositians ( is "Renderositians" even a word? ). LOL
As for me, it seems like I've been taking pictures all my life but I didn't get serious enough to purchase my first Digital Single Lens Reflex (DSLR) camera until May 2008. In May 2009 I upgraded from an Olympus E-510 to an Olympus E-30 with a wide variety of lenses.
My subject areas of interest include absolutely everything but with a frequent return to airplanes, cars, tanks, etc., ...or as Tara says, machines that make lots of noise;-)
If you are curious, I am pictured above in a Grumman Corsair on a taxiway of the Kansas City Downtown Airport. I used to fly and train others to fly airplanes. That will explain my frequent forays into the world of aviation. Last but by no means least, thanks to Pannyhb for introducing me to Renderosity. The moment I saw it I was hooked.
Fine print: Yes, the photo above is a photo manipulation:-)

I generally consider other tourists to be nuisances to work around (when it comes to photography), but I admire the way you've managed to incorporate them into an interesting shot, Bill. You're hitting some of the same spots we hit on our national park trip last year & are bringing back some fond memories, so thanks for that...

Tourists? I was captivated by the mountains! I've never seen these (no, not even a photo) until this post. Now I understand why the name "Grand"! Thanks for the post! Greatly appreciated. And a very well composed photo. Keep up the good work! :-)

I love the enthusiasm of Eastern people!
I have a house full of them at the moment, great fun!

I had to laugh at Claude's comment. It always fascinates me how easily we as humans (myself included) see other people in groups as 'annoying tourists', but rarely include ourselves in the same group........even when we are standing in exactly the same place photographing exactly the same things! Oh the irony!
jendellas
Super photo of people enjoying themselves. xx

Oh. My. God. I expect at any moment to see Alan Ladd and Jack Palance come into view and that little tyke crying out "Shane!" as they ride away towards those majestic peaks. What a view! I can't blame the tourists for being excited, even if they are a nuisance to some. Fabulous shot Bill.

OMG, she remembers Shane? I thought I was the only one. Otherwise, a fabulous panorama of the Korean tourists recording everything by whatever camera means they possess, Bill. Really beautiful scenery and excellent capture.

That was one of the best stops we made! I loved the enthusiasm, the excitement, the high energy of the tour bus groups for what they were seeing. While I was on the verge of "Oh yes, here's the same rock from another view," they were throwing their arms in the air, saying, "LOOK where I am!!!" I'll have to get that iPhone pic of the woman with the scarf over to my computer and see if it looks good enough on the big screen. :)

Wonderful capture of the tourist experience; if you hadn't explained the shot it could well seem you were one of the bus crowd yourself. I guess that's what the rest of us look like when we visit other countries...those mountains are magnificent!

Fabulous shot and cool narrative love blinkings response and mini-post
calico_jester
Beautiful capture of this mountain range, and a pleasure to see tourists enjoying the view.
While taking a few photos near the Louvre, a few tourists actually nudged me out of their way so that they could photograph the view from my perspective :)
helanker
WOW! No wonder they are enthusiastic, when seeing this view. It is amazingly beautiful !!

Amazing capture Bill. God bless.

hey, you got a great dialogue going above! Great comments on tourists, etc. I agree, tourists are a great affirmation, esp when they're respectful---and in this case, joyous---of where they are. I laughed at Claude's comment, I suppose it's a dream of every photographer to have a massive megaphone, and shout, "heraus! heraus! mach schnell! quick, quick, quick, meine Damen und mein Herren!!!" like a director getting the 'extras' out of the shot...I love that you captured them, they make a wonderful line along the line of the landscape. And such colors, and so respectful. And I love that your foreground-most tourist is holding up her tablet! Great capture, bill. And yes, of course one comes here for the mountains...but we're the specie appreciating these things; as Carl Sagan said, our existence gives the cosmos "Eyes"...we're the ones with the awe and wonder and dance about these things...so why not celebrate us too? And, reading Tara, apparently you have! A sweeping composition too---the clarity and vivid hues of the tourists, the gentle sweep of the mid-ground, and those slightly hazy glorious Tetons back there. It's a wonderful shot, affirming everything. I love it!
Bill, I was gonna do another long session in your gallery, but I've been called away. Sorry! I'll return soon. I also just saw your comments in my gallery, and thank you so much! Great comments, very affirming, and, as always, very perceptive and keen. It's always great when you return here, bringing your deep perceptions and huge heart, and of course your wonderful art. And when you comment---for me as well as for everyone else---you bring a level of affirmation that's priceless. You and tara are two of the best commenters here. So thanks again, a bunch of Bill comments are jewels in my chest.
Oh---how could I forget? As long as I'm here: Congratulations on the Royals! I was so happy they beat the Mets in 5 games! I love NYCity, but they a lot of attention, so it's always nice when someone else does. And I don't say that because the Mets beat the Cubs---I'd have felt far more happy if St Louis had beat the Cubs, or someone else. It's just---I wanted someone else to win. (But the Mets were stunning, with Chicago. Just stunning.) If you're even slightly interested, sports writers say that the Cubs didn't "blow it" this time: They were simply outclassed. And I agree. I mean, I followed baseball for years (sox and cubs), and the Cubs this year are unbelievably young and inexperienced...A lot of writers think they'll be back, so maybe, maybe in a few years Chicago will play KC. It could happen...Anyway, I've read, here, that you're still marching around in glee about the victory. Great way to come home, huh? Congratulations, Sir Bill. And now, regrettably, I have to leave. I'll be back for more soon. Enjoy your arrival home!!!!
