Description

The challenge was to get ENOUGH color in this shot to make it look like the real thing! These hot pools at Yellowstone are the most amazing, intense, brilliant blue I've ever seen. I'm sure it was a combination of the white limestone and the clear blue sky, and it's probably different colors at different times of the day, but this is really what we saw here! It's probably impossible to go to Yellowstone and not take pictures for their abstract art quality. Since that's the sort of thing I like best, I was in heaven with all the details and angles and colors and lines there. :)

Splendid abstract! I recall large gas bubbles periodically issuing forth out of the dark hole in the bottom of that pool resulting in clouds of steam going skyward. And yes, you nailed the color just as I remember it. Excellent.

Yellowstone is the most amazing place in the entire country! I've been there a couple times, and I'm dying to get back! And yes, those pools are the most beautiful blue - this is just as I remember it. You don't want to dive in to that beautiful clear water, though. Awesome photo, Tara! (You got my vote, BTW..)

I remember a couple years ago some idiot managed to crash a Phantom into one of those pools - then asked a park ranger how to get it back out... I suspect it's still at the bottom of that pool!

Phenomenal ! You have got such hot watery detail in that pool , and although I know that it is NOT to bathe in I feel drawn to it. What dangerous beauty!

Beautiful photo. I've seen this color water in a photo from Yellowstone in a National Geographic MANY years ago! The hot temperature and the blue color make me think of copper compounds. There may be such in this water, adding to the blue. The dark blue indicates a great depth. Thanks for posting this. Keep up the good work! :-)

It is gorgeous; it looks very inviting, but I'm sure it probably isn't advisable to enter that water!

This I can understand very much, dear Tara, that you was as in heaven, being on this amazing place, where everything is different from anything else (also so it seems to me). And this really is a stunning colour blue, one can fall in love with this photo, (I do anyway!). Totally TOP-CLEAR too.
