Description
installed with hammer and chisel.
Captured 9/22/15 @ 7:53 am, about a mile from home.
I suspect the sewer was installed as an afterthought by workers lacking the proper pavement cutting equipment. Perhaps the city couldn't afford better. What an eyesore! Just look at those broken edges and cracks. I've seen tons of covers in my day, but this is the sorriest bit of pavement workmanship I have ever encountered. And, with the constant road, freeway and pavement work I've witnessed around here, I'm familiar with all kinds of their equipment. This ranks up there with the terrible avatar revision on RR.

I see what you mean about all the cracking; it looks as if it was installed by means of a giant stamp with tons of pressure. Poor workmanship, but a cool photo op. Well done, Harry!

Yes, it is a pathetic piece of workmanship, Harry. HEHE! at your last sentence :) (What made them think, that our avatars could fit the shape of a bubble?)

I'm just getting back to normal (I had a whopper of a flu last week), and have been away from your gallery for too long, and wanted to say I've seen everything and I'll be commenting soon. But to show you I've been watching, I wanted to comment on this latest of your long series of sewer-cover shots, which you know I've loved (every one of them). Yeah, it's a bad installation job; the cover looks like it was put in with a hammer and chisel, as you say. But I just loooove the photo! It's plain, bold and bright, and it bursts in our eyes like a metal sun. (Esp when zoomed.) You cropped it just right, and your bright light makes it look like radiant rays are shooting out in all directions. Fine detail too. The city's lousy installation gives material for your ever-keen eye. I love this shot! Hope your back isn't stopping you too badly, Harry. Kudos for keeping up here, when it's so hard to move. Take care, stay cool and as pain free as you can, and I'll be back soon...
