My name is Tara, and I was born and raised in Washington State.
Â
In 2010 I married Bill (bmac62) and retired ... two of the best choices I ever made! :)
Â
In March, 2013, we sold our home in Washington and went on the road in our RV full time. What a blast! There is so much world out there to see!
After traveling around the West for a few years, we got rid of the motorhome and are now spending winters in deep-south Texas and summers in Washington State. Spring and fall finds us visiting whichever place strikes our fancy at the time!

I love the colors here. I can understand why some people may want to get closer.

I was surprised to see the buffalo walking around the very acidic water

Marvelous capture with a great sense of image composition that give to this shot the idea to be on Mars !!

I too can see why it may be tempting. Great patterns.

Wow, it's lovely, but I don't think I'd be tempted to get too close!

I would heed the warning but must say it looks tempting !! Looks acidic too.

Beautiful shot! The different steps are very clearly visible as are the colors. What was the surrounding temperature like? Hot? Humid? Or average day out doors? Keep up the good work! :-)

Wow! Striking and beautiful but also scary.

It always amazes me that people have to be told not to walk out into an area where everyplace you look are steaming fissures and fumeroles, and deep pools of beyond scalding hot water.. Duh.....
A great shot of the steamy and colorful pool, Tara!
This looks like the geyser basin - just a mind-blowing section of the park, which is mind-blowing anyway. It's all here... Volcanic activity, plains filled with wildlife, forests, canyons, lakes, waterfalls.. Sheesh, now I want to go back!

Yeah, definitely not a great place to walk! You captured this as a long sheet of an aerial view of a coastline. Love the layering and the move from deep browns to beiges and whites, to water-blues. And the light smoke. And the division of the image in halves, with the reddish part spilling over into the bluer part. A sensitive geological capture, with all those lines and hues jutting into each other. And something very cooling about the water, even though it might be wholly uninhabitable. A very fine shot of geology at its most dramatic. A really fine crop too: Without that branch on top, we could be looking at a whole country's shoreline. Natural forms repeat themselves amazingly, don't they? Beautiful piece, Tara.
