Ah. Memories. I lived off base in a town called Tsuruma. I was always confused by Japanese house numbering: numbered as built, not by lot. When I filled out my paperwork to return to the States, I mistakenly put the wrong numbers down.... the movers were not amused when they finally arrived at the house. The first call was to a Pachinko parlor. I'm sure the owner and patrons were not too amused either. Just think. I could have _nailed _the Pachinko empire for Pennsylvania!

The US during the Occupation renumbered the houses accoding to a grid and switched to driving on the US side of the road. After the Peace Treaty everything went back to normal
