Description

About a month ago I was in our garden, and in the corner of my eye I saw something flying. I tried to figure out where "it" had landed, and after a while I found this butterfly. It was like shiny silk so delicate, with a very special white-beige colour. I really had to crawl under the Ligularia plant, because it was hiding and moving more and more downwards. While I was 'sitting in the ground', I took several nice pictures from below. I suspect it's one of the moth-family, although I doubt. The wing span was about two and a half, to 3 centimetres. Does someone perhaps have a name? Name of the flower: Ligularia dentata 'Othello' Thank you very much for your look. Hello dear friends, after sleuthing on the Internet, I found the name of this moth, it's: Cydalima perspectalis, or the Box Tree Moth. And is a species of moth of the family Crambidae. This is what Wikipedia sais: Cydalima perspectalis or the box tree moth is a species of moth of the family Crambidae. It is native to eastern Asia (Japan, China, Taiwan, Korea, the Russian Far East and India).[1] It is an introduced species in Europe, first recorded in Germany in 2006, and subsequently in Switzerland and the Netherlands in 2007, Great Britain in 2008, France and Austria in 2009,[2][3][4][5] Hungary in 2011,[6] Romania[7] and Turkey.[8] It is also known from Slovakia, Belgium[9] and Croatia.[10] During the preparation to the 2014 Olympics in 2012 it was introduced from Italy to Sochi with the planting stock of Buxus sempervirens and in the next year it began to defoliate Buxus colchica in large quantities.[11] In 2013 it was found new to Denmark at several sites in the island of Sjælland

Fantastic picture, I went through butterflies and moths to try and find this and the closest I came to was a very rare moth :) You will have to let me know if you find out I am fascinated now lol :)

When I first layed eyes on this lovely image, I also thought this to be a Moth - but I am confused now, easily done! - but what do I know ? not much - but I would like to know now, one way or another, so I can learn a bit more how to recognize the difference ... what I really like is the contrast between that gorgeous yellow and soft, creamy mauve-ish white - if you know what I mean ? great effort Jacominchen, being so fit for all those extortion's 😅

Cheers BB
