Description

Yes, I know what it is, but are you? Photo taken some weeks ago not far from home. Thank you very much for your interest, and your nice words, it's very much appreciated (as always :)) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ !!! Hello dear friends, after sleuthing on the Internet, I found the name of this moth, it's: Cydalima perspectalis, or the Box Tree Moth. And is a species of moth of the family Crambidae. From Wikipedia: Cydalima perspectalis or the box tree moth is a species of moth of the family Crambidae. It is native to eastern Asia (Japan, China, Taiwan, Korea, the Russian Far East and India).[1] It is an introduced species in Europe, first recorded in Germany in 2006, and subsequently in Switzerland and the Netherlands in 2007, Great Britain in 2008, France and Austria in 2009,[2][3][4][5] Hungary in 2011,[6] Romania[7] and Turkey.[8] It is also known from Slovakia, Belgium[9] and Croatia.[10] During the preparation to the 2014 Olympics in 2012 it was introduced from Italy to Sochi with the planting stock of Buxus sempervirens and in the next year it began to defoliate Buxus colchica in large quantities.[11] In 2013 it was found new to Denmark at several sites in the island of Sjælland. From a Dutch forum: It is a beautiful, about four centimeters big butterfly, silver white with a dark border. Sometimes you can see completely dark specimens. Because of its size do not think quickly on micro butterflies, but he belongs to the crambidae (Crambidae), a family of micro butterflies. He comes from Asia and in 2007 for the first time seen in the western river region in the Netherlands. In England, it is now in many places a real plague for garden owners. Many plants have been killed. Probably he was introduced along with boxwood plants. The cydalima perspectalis now spreading slowly over the rest of the country. In other Western European countries it is active.

I would have said deformed corn as well, but those white bulbs with pink tops have me puzzled. Fungi? Flower? Protective sack for some kind of insect? Fascinating shot.

I first thought corn but am stumped by the white pods then thought cherry tomato as some grow in pods so I would have to say deformed corn the same as CavalierLady...A wonderful shot all the same :)
