Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper!
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

Super shot and digifiddle. Reminds me that I once decided some day to tryu and make figures out of insulation foam from a spray container. :)

It makes for an interesting object.

Helle is amazing, isn't she? Anything that crosses her path is grist for the mill. I don't know if what she's talking about would work, but ... what a thought! I like your plastic thing. It looks like the coil-springy wire that goes from the motorhome to the car in order to make the lights work!

Interesting article.

Stunning capture and post work Andrea. God bless.

From the thumbnail I thought this was some ceramic sculpture. Then I saw the full image and thought, "Ok, this is an electrical cord post worked with Andrea's signature fiddling." Then I read your description and realized my instincts were correct. A very cool object d'art although I suppose you could see it as something that came out of the southbound end of a northbound plastic cow.

lol, mark---plastic cow dung. And lol, tara: Yes, Helle will make anything out of anything. And it all looks great. (Phone books! She explained that they were "planning" books, with removable pages, the kind that you put personal phone numbers in. She's got several with art in it. Man...I told her that Per's gonna move out for fear of being painted on...she could become a menace to society...) Anyway, to me this looks like you emptied a tube of oil paint! I love it. And in zoom, this is a big coiled snake with terrific postwork. But even the small version is an eye popper. I love it. (And what the hell is "hot plastic"??? Plastic that has slept with everything in sight? Plastic that's touted as the new big trend? I feel like my parents saying, "what are you doing with hot plastic, young man??? Get back to work!" Hot plastic sound like it's guaranteed to clean your porch, clean your toilet, and run your vacuum cleaner "all in one convenient little package!")
