Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper!
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

some are crazy and have nother to do better! the leaves here you captured a collected to an abstract artwork made out of shapes and color tones! well seen and a fantastic nature impression! ;o)

A lovely mish mash of shapes and colour.

hehe, could need one of this blowers now... beautiful close up of leaves, like a painting!

A really beautiful shot of lovely leaves. Special colors here. Purple is quite fantastic for leaves :) We have a leaf sucker :-) Otherwise we would have to dig us through the space between the house and the sheds. :-) Later on, the whole lawn would be full of leaves and they are not as beautiful as these, I asure you. And the leaves end up in a sack, that will be emptied in a compost container.

I agree with you Andrea, nature is wonderful, just look at those colours.

I agree with you Andrea. In addition, people with airblowers often wear headphones, thus not notice the noise they make. Beautiful capture. I like the colors very much.

Stunning capture Andrea. God bless.

If they get rid of all the leaves what sort of piles will your neighbors jump into? Never mind, the visual is killing my appetite! I wonder if they hire people to work in their gardens?
Two stunning pictures. I love the other one. Superb post work.

This is so pretty! I love leaf piles, in all their shapes and colours...gorgeous!

Fantastic shot of these colorful leaves. Here in my neighborhood there are also some people who love to make loud noise with the leaf blower.

Gosh, if I had tried to make a painting or drawing of leaves, I couldn't have chosen such beautiful colors. This is gorgeous!

I like this one very much, but I LOVE your "Odd Man Out" digifiddle. It's just spectacular.
It seems the height of laziness to hire someone to run a leaf blower. I can see hiring someone to rake, especially if you have a large lawn or a lot of trees. Personally, I don't like to do as much raking as I used to. But paying someone to run a leaf blower??? That seems silly. Maybe I'd feel different about it if I were 90 years old.

Love the purples...leaf blowers are for drying your motorcycle...

Wonderful picture of the fallen leaves and the beautiful mix of Autumn colors !

boy, I'm with you on leaf blowers. The very act of raking leaves is special---even picking them up and feeling them. And making compost is using them the way nature does. I did a cartoon years back; and if I had decent drawing skills, I would've finished it. It was a few frames of people with leaf blowers. And in the last frame, a guy came along with a leaf blower and blew all the other people out of the frame.(They flew away like leaves...) It was way corny, but it captured how I felt. Oh---and leaf blowers are loud, and smell of gasoline. How does something that small make so much noise???
Anyway, with tara, I love your "Odd Man Out". Like an etching. Terrific piece. This piece has 2 personalities: In zoom, we see your grained postwork, and it's like a big abstract, and those purples really stand out. In the smaller version, it's completely a photograph, and it has sheen and a poetic grace, like some haikus laying on the ground. Either way, lovely shot, Andrea. I mean, leaves on the ground are one of the gifts of the season...why would anyone blast them away with those miniature jet engines? (As my grandfather would say, "Feh!" That's a Yiddish "e" as in "bed".)
