Description
Another attempt at better hair. Looks OK'ish, I think I need to weigh up the advantages of the flexibility of normal transmapped hair against the potentially better but less flexible results from something like ZBrush Fibremesh.
This render ran to the two hour limit I've got set, using both my 780Ti and the K4000 cards.
Four mesh lights inside a diffuse black box.
Any ideas on how to improve these renders are always welcome.

I think your render is really impressive. An idea for the mesh lights is to make a black square with a white circle (or ring, or umbrella shape) jpeg and put it under emission color. That way instead of a white square reflection in the eyes there will be a circle, or whatever shape you use. Also, use of a ring make a nice soft contrasting light for portraits..
