Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper!
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

I was listening to a radio program on paleontology yesterday when the guest mentioned that millions of years ago spiders measured up to a half meter in length. It seems you have found a throwback.

What a wonderful and neat collection of items you have accumulated over the years. Has anyone ever jumped? Great shot. :)

If Mark is right, I understand why this spider looks a little rusty! :) Happy Halloween!

A cool garden decoration. Something like that I need to install in my front garden, maybe it keeps the people away to pick my flowers. LOL... Fantastic shot, excellent details.

oooh, I love it! I love that you have it. Is it yours---I mean, did you make it? Even if you didn't, it's great. With your styles of postwork, I can't tell if you postworked it or if that's the real surface. It's a great surface, either way. Love it! And it stands out against all the light wood. Terrific!
(Oh! And btw---in reference to your flickr shot here ((which I love)): I'm sorry I never told you this: I got your incredible mask fixed! Or glued! ((Fixed usually means it was castrated---sorry, mask!)) It's Whole, at last, in One Piece! I'm sorry---I never told you! So much has happened here, I just forgot...but I'll make a good photo of it, and post it, so my gallery can know what a great gift you gave me. I don't have a permanent place for it, however, because I'm tearing this place apart. But when all is done, I'll put it on some kind of pedestal, and display it, along with my African masks, and other art pieces. It's great, Andrea, it's real magic---thank you again!) (And the artist who helped me, used Araldite. Right? Right spelling? She used it and something else too...)
