Description

The scene and loaf of bread are in my freestuff. The rock is from RDNA freestuff. The effects are Jepes from Daz. "The Devil's Dictionary" is a satirical work by Ambrose Bierce. It originally appeared as a series of articles in newspapers. These were taken and became part of the routines of traveling entertainers, the 19th century equivalent of stand up comedians today. Later it was published as "The Cynic's Dictionary" and then later when Mr. Bierce got more control, as "The Devil's Dictionary". For those of you who don't get satire, it is not meant as being a literal guide to how the world should be. It is meant to contrast the way the world is to how the world should be by honestly, or even exaggerating how the world actually is. These are intended to be illustrations of the definitions of "The Devil's Dictionary" which also use elements from my freestuff available here at Renderosity.

My suspicion is that the stone is the ben-ben stone once situated on top of the sacred obelisk in Heliopolis, Egypt. The ben-ben was an iron meteorite with the shape of a pyramidal cap stone, wherefore it was placed on the sacred obelisk, having fallen from the sky (heaven). It disappeared suddenly and nobody know who took it, or why. But there are some suspicions of theft and a deceitful story to cover it up.

I don't think the stone in the Caaba fits that description. It is probably one of numerous sacred stones once in the Arabian peninsula dating back several thousand years. If you accept the Biblical dating, it would have been set in place by Abraham and his sone Ishmael around 2000 BCE, about 500 years after the Great Pyramid was built but probably before it lost its top piece. Since it is supposed to originate with Abraham, it was supposedly in place before Moses and the Exodus.
