Description

I have no idea what was going on that day, I just know it was a mean sky, and I shot away. (Someone used this for a brochure.) Please see Full --------------------------------

Interesting - how did that sun manage to get in front of that cloud bank?

Those colors are amazing. I've always heard a green sky was tornado weather, but this looks perfectly calm. I like the way the clouds give the lake a far shore. Makes it look more like home to me, rather than infinite space.

Could this have been some City of Chicago pre-Saint Patrick's Day trick to see if they could do more than turn the Chicago River green? The bright sun just saw you with camera in-hand and had to do something artistic for you...after all, look at all you've done for it! The last time I saw this type of image, I was watching the sun rise off Montauk Point on the eastern end of Long Island...the cloud bank above the horizon masked the sunrise for a couple of minutes and then a crescendo of orange flame grew casting a fiery glow in all directions. Somehow you got green...wow.

Wow, just look at that aqua strewn sky with the esoteric clouds, and the rising or setting sun, captured exactly in the middle of this incredible image of Lake Michigan, soon to be invaded by the predatory Asian carp, which will have an abysmal effect upon all indigenous sea life. But I digress. Love the real and diaphanous contrasts in this winner, Mark.

This is a stunner, Mark. Perfect exposure and composition. And a curious thing happened when I zoomed in. It appeared that the sun was getting brighter and after a few seconds it appeared to be moving. Or maybe your shot was just magic.

This convinces me I need to get up earlier on weekends..... At least sometimes! LOL

What a beautiful sunrise shot, Mark! A very unique color.

For all I know it could be green at sunrise up there in the north of the known world; I've seen some strange colours at dawn in other places, it's not out of the question. And here you have proof positive! Wonder what other apocalyptic events are coming?

What an attractive force this recording has , my friend. A truly wondrous sight of mysterious colours, a feast for the eye, and how special that just at that moment (I assume it was not a long time with this extraordinary scene) you were there with your camera, and I can imagine, you were in ecstasy. Congratulations on this photo, and so much fun someone has used it for a brochure.
